Berlin City of LIFE-PRIORITY 2011

From the 1st to the 3rd of October 2011, Berlin will wear the colors of LIFE-PRIORITY! LIFE-PRIORITY is about Linking Intensive care to Family Experience.
The LIFE-PRIORITY campaign is a multi-step programme launched by the European Society of Intensive Care Medicine (ESICM) to raise intensive care awareness. Whereas more than 6,000 intensive care professionals will gather in Berlin from October 1-5 for LIVES 2011, the 24th annual congress of the ESICM, several concurrent programmes will be undertaken to help connect the meaning of LIFE-PRIORITY with the people of Berlin and Europe.

Berlin breaks the Record!

Help us to break the record of the largest cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) Course ever! Before the game between Hertha BSC and FC Köln in the Olympia Stadion on the 1st of October 2011, with the help of experienced intensive care professionals, we will teach as many Berliners as possible how they can save lives with a 30 minutes training session. Let’s add another victory to Hertha Berlin success story as the team gives us the chance to score our major goal with their supporters: save lives!

European Première of the new Fred Hersch Concert: My coma dreams

Fred Hersch Concert

“My Coma dreams” is based on eight dreams and nightmares experienced by the jazz composer/pianist Fred Hersch when he survived a two-month coma in the summer of 2008. His dream stories have been shaped into a continuous narrative by writer / director Herschel Garfein (Elmer Gantry, the opera) which illuminates an extraordinary journey to the dividing line between life and death.

The concert will take place in the beautiful DZ-Bank building designed by Frank O. Gehry, located on the world-famous Pariser Platz.

Letters for LIFE-PRIORITY

Last year, ESICM collected more than 400 letters from ICU patients and families worldwide. Whereas a selection of these touching stories will be printed into booklets and postcards to be distributed throughout the city of Berlin, we have decided to launch a new effort to collect letters and testimonies. Send yours and help create the biggest patients community ready to speak up for Intensive Care Medicine.
